A Decade of Service, A Lifetime of Dedication
Angela is not just your HEA Presidential Candidate; she is a proven, dedicated leader who has spent nearly two decades in the classroom and the past decade driving significant change within the HEA and OEA. Her philosophy is simple: we must Empower, Organize, and Transform because Together We Thrive!
Angela's extensive experience is the foundation of her strong commitment and reliable follow-through. She believes that educator well-being must always be prioritized, recognizing that when educators are supported and cared for, they are best equipped to support and care for our students.
Relational Leadership: An Advocate Who Understands
As a parent and an educator, Angela understands that true success in education is built on strong relationships and fierce advocacy. Her dedication to improving the profession is deeply personal and strategic:
A Parent’s Perspective: Angela is the proud parent of two Hillsboro School District graduates. Navigating the system with children, who identify as neurodiverse, LGBTQ2SIA+, and TAG, gave her an intimate, firsthand understanding of the struggles many students face, even with dedicated teachers.
Championing Equity and Inclusion: This experience fueled her active leadership on the LGBTQ+ Task Force and her commitment to serving on District-Wide TAG Leadership. She is driven to ensure all students, especially those from marginalized or underserved communities, receive the advocacy and resources needed to thrive.
The Courage to Lead: Angela is willing to speak up and share the hard truth with those in power, while always seeking win-win solutions that benefit both students and staff.
Unique Insight: The opportunity to observe the School Board from an insider perspective (through her child's role as a Student Representative) and her practice of attending School Board meetings gives Angela unique insight into how best to influence district decisions and push for systemic change.
